There are many ways to become involved in the Music Ministry at Trinity Episcopal Church. Led by our Music Director, Dr. Mark Andersen, several of the programs are described here.
We have two areas in our church where growth is needed: Our choir and our bell choir. Please consider joining us in one of our musical organizations. No prior experience or knowledge is required. You would be welcomed into our choir loft any Sunday, if you’d like to give it a try and see if it might be a fit for you. We meet each Sunday at 9:30 to run through the music we will sing at the 10:00 service. We’d love to welcome you!
I wanted to take a moment and say a special word of thanks to both our choir and our handbell ensemble for the wonderful year we have had. Both organizations have gained new members this past year, and the programs that we have done together have been really appreciated by our church members and the community at large, as witnessed by the wonderful comments we have received.
Rehearsals for both organizations are taking a break for the summer, but will begin once again starting in September to prepare music for our 2026-2027 church year. During the summer months, we will still be singing in the loft every Sunday morning and rehearsing at 9:30 on Sundays for the service at 10:00.
I am very appreciative of the devotion shown this past year to both programs and am looking forward to our next church year ahead.
Our choir meets each Wednesday for rehearsal at 7 pm from September through May. They sing each Sunday at the 10:00 am Holy Eucharist, and at all special services throughout the church year. Our Organist and Choirmaster, Dr. Mark Andersen, is always pleased to receive inquiries about membership in the choir. Please email him or write to him in care of Trinity Church.
Mark Andersen formed a new Handbell Choir for Trinity Episcopal Church in February of 2018. The choir consisted of community members from Trinity Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church, Asbury Methodist Church, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, and the community. Suspended during the pandemic, the group has reformed, and rehearses weekly during the regular church season, and performs at Christmas and Easter events. Dr. Mark Andersen is the director.
This video is an example of handbell playing. It is the handbell choir International Artists Carillon™, directed by Mark Andersen in Seattle, playing Carillon, by H. Dean Wagner.

On a personal note, in October 2019, Mark Andersen had the honor of performing with Margaret Pate, David Eaton, Joshua Sobel, and Lynn Andersen at the new Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh on their new CB Fisk pipe organ. It is one of the finest organs in our state, and the acoustics of the Cathedral are magnificent. As Dean of the Central North Carolina American Guild of Organists, I was asked to put together this opening concert. For those who have asked about recordings, the entire concert can now be heard online, divided into two television shows that are being televised across the Nation from New York and Seattle. Here are the two links to the YouTube recordings of both shows.
